Optism Wrap-Up of the Mobile Marketing Association Forum in New York

By , Jun 15, 2012

It has been a busy week for Alcatel-Lucent’s Optism as the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) Forum made its annual stop in New York City this week.

Optism (Alcatel-Lucent) continues to play an integral part in the mobile industry as Thomas Labarthe, VP Mobile Commerce,  was re-elected to the MMA’s Global Board of Directors, Simon Holland, Director Advertising Solutions EMEA, was named to the MMA’s EMEA Board and Lisa Ciangiulli was named to the MMA’s North American board.

At the Forum, Alcatel-Lucent sponsored the “Seamless Mobile Commerce” Track on Wednesday which was very well received by an overflow crowd. Ash Evans from Verizon spoke on the topic of mobile identity and the opportunity and challenges for mobile operators to deliver context aware computing platforms that link identity, mobile, social, location, payment and commerce services. Thomas Labarthe hosted a panel discussion with Ash, Johann Huber-Guttierez from Resource Interactive and Michael Collins from Joule. The panel discussed how to safeguard consumer confidence while providing better insights to brands and retailers on what consumers want and need.

As always, Optism and the attendees were twittering away on the hashtag #mmaf2012. We felt the topics that resonated most with the attendees were how to provide more value to consumers through mobile while protecting their privacy. We compiled some of the tweets we thought were most interesting over on Storify entitled Optism Recaps #mmaf2012. Some of these tweets were brought to life during the show beautifully by @ImageThink.

See you next year.

Alcatel-Lucent is sponsoring a mobile conference track, Track 5: Seamless Mobile Commerce, moderated by our very own Thomas Labarthe, Vice President, Mobile Commerce, Alcatel-Lucent starting at 11:50am on Wednesday, June 13th at the Roosevelt Hotel – Sutton Suite, 2nd Floor.  This track will explore how to optimize the user experience by surrounding mobile payments with more value.

Our first speaker is Ash Evans from Verizon who will be presenting on “Identity: The New Oil Enabling Contextual Information Services That Deliver Trust, Privacy and Value Based Brand Relationships”. The session will focus on the opportunity and challenges for mobile operators to deliver context aware computing platforms that link identity, mobile, social, location, payment and commerce services. The discussion will focus on the implications of privacy, trust and the integration of identity services to enable the context aware services to improve consumer brand relationships.

Next up will be a panel discussion on “Optimizing Mobile Commerce and the Consumer Experience.” Participants will include Mehmet Pasa from MasterCard, Johann Huber-Guttierez from Resource Interactive and Michael Collins from Joule plus Ash Evans moderated by Thomas Labarthe. The panel will discuss how to safeguard consumer confidence while providing better insights to brands and retailers on what consumers want and need? And what are the best practices when it comes to security, privacy and user identity in the mobile domain? This Q&A panel of experts will discuss strategies that leverage mobile technologies combined with user identity services to deliver a premium mobile shopping experience through all stages of the purchasing journey.

So if you are interested in mobile commerce, surrounding mobile payments with more value as well as NFC, user privacy, permission and combating “showrooming”; then we encourage you to attend.

We hope to see you next week in New York and if you still need to register, you can do so here.
